Jean's fan base is odd to me. Why is a timed edition of Everything All At Once print flipping for 3x it's cost a little more than a month out? It if was a set edition size i would understand. It seems odd.
I'm not someone else.

Sales are legit.
I'm guessing its due to the fact it was sold when many still hadn't watched the movie. After watching it they wanted one...

It's an unusual story .... . I love James Jean's artistic prints that to me look like fine art I will frame, but I also passed on this editionGoBluePanic wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 2:38 pmJean's fan base is odd to me. as it's more like a movie poster I could not see framing . . Many others passed too- It was the smallest JJ open edition size ever at only 779 prints .
Ebay showed one quickly sold on 4/14 for $2500 !, (only EB users can see it only sold for $1450 ) , but wow,
that was enough fuel to start a price rally that is still going today ...will the rally keep going ? Thats mob psychology for ya...
Not just JJ fans buying tho. Peeps who saw the movie well after the timed edition window ended now want it. Probably didn’t even know the artist before the movie.GoBluePanic wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 2:38 pmJean's fan base is odd to me. it was out very limited markets. but yeah, this is why edition was 'low' and the aftermarket is high. i did see it before pulling the trigger.
I think it also has something to do with how much people are so passionate about the movie. The timing for Shape of Water and mother! are beyond my recollection, but they aren't movies with passionate fanbases.
Its also helped by the fact that, his art of the poster wasn't the one sheet, or otherwise there would be more out there and less would be after JJ's version.
so its a couple of factors.
jkw3000 - Nobody ever really wins in this hobby.
Olly - I'm a hack asshole unable to provide you with what you want.
Gonzo's Mom- And some of you are the demons!

Shape of Water did have a passionate fanbase but it was also before the prices doubled and came out well after the movie was released - why it has a run of like 1700ish.

It also doesn't hurt that China is the largest consumer of cinema in the world. If your goal is investment, it will probably serve you well to purchase movie prints for Chinese and Chinese influenced films.

I think they typically have a 3 year no sale clause.
