I would've preferred him and the kid in the pick-up on the highway for the bottom half.

Remembering that end scene definitely helps me appreciate the reasons behind the composition, since the whole bottom half is essentially a visual representation of the dream he is recounting in the top half, merging his thoughts with reality. And now I think of it, the dream itself provides a pretty appropriate metaphor for the lead character's emotional struggle which is what the whole film is about. And after watching that final scene again on Youtube, I read the following comment:

"The outlaw riding into town one last time to bring together a mother and child. Sacrificing himself in the process knowing he's the problem."

After reading that, his body floating above the flames takes on a new meaning. So in summary, I'm still not in love with it but I do appreciate it a bit more.

Definitely not signed up for some random french gallery, just saw the Instagram post that did not mention it. But to be fair they posted it again at 1 am to state it was EU only.
