I can't stand all these half-baked, DeviantArt, cash grabby, crypto bro fudge "projects" infesting the art space, and I'm equally sick of the shilling of these projects. No talk about artistic merit, it's all about value. The Discord channels are a joke and devoid of a real "community" unless you like chatting with bots and r/wallstreetbets clowns.

Tristan Eaton's GEMMA project was one of the only ones that nearly sold me and I would've bought in just to burn the token in favor of the print + a chance at an OG painting. The final output actually looked great and it was decently affordable. The Obey project was decent as well, albeit a rehash of images and textures done to death.

Yasuke Hanai's NFTs are fugly. There, I said it. And look at Murakami's upcoming NFT project: Pure laziness. It's just more auto-generated, amateur pixel trash art. How about those Edgar Plans "Lil Heroes?" A collection of ugly, CGI, Saturday morning children's TV looking images. Congrats, you just bought an expensive avatar for your Discord account.

I'll just leave this video here that sums up my feelings. Grab your popcorn, it's a doozy:

wrt Hanai, the aesthetic and cred come from a specific subculture core that he's been true to even while partnering on commercial projects. It was always carefully chosen. To cull access to the work based on a raffle or even vetting in a discord full of speculators is weird.

As someone who has NFT's and over 10 eth in my portfolio, I wouldn't be surprised to see eth hit 3 digits. I just wouldn't.
