Reclaimed Frames
It never ceases to amaze me at some of the stuff you're able to accomplish with those thrift frames. Nicely done!
I've got one I'm working on, hoping to finish it this weekend and throw it up here!

I have a question about cutting down reclaimed frames. If the piece I want to put into the frame is 18x24, do I make the cuts at that size from corner to corner, or do I do it a little smaller to include the rabbet in that size? Thanks.

Just cut the print.
pay via paypal, use credit card, file dispute at the 20 day mark if suspicious. don't deal with noobs. don't trade with noobs. request feedback ahead of time. there are lots of good people 'round here.
You'll typically want to leave an 1/8" extra. I think the framing guru's call this a standard allowance.. When I cut mine down (assuming my rabbits are 1/4"), The inside border will be ~17.75" x 23.75" so the rabbit lengths are actually 18.25" x 24.25". Hope that makes sense. There are plenty of good resources on here to check out with regards to DIY framing:EriaThomas wrote:I have a question about cutting down reclaimed frames. Meh... I cut prints all the time (well, when it's easier for me...) If I'm framing something, it's not leaving me until I die. I don't care if 1/8" of border is missing. I'm sure the resale value might be hurt, but screw those assholes trying to sell my prized my possesions when I'm dead.FroDawg wrote:sidewaysscott wrote:Just cut the print.
xjmjx - That frame is awesome with that print after your work. I'd be proud of that! Your daughter has a good eye.
