I'm curious what you guys think about soft edges.
How much does it really hurt the value (subjective)?
Any success attempting to repair it ?
Anything you feel everyone should know about soft edges?
Soft Edges
If we're talking about just your standard rounded edge then no biggie. If it's crumpled half with to the image, yes biggie.
You'll get soft edges on prints straight from the artists sometimes. It's not from being damaged, it's from the blade they used to cut the paper be dull(er).
For repair, just have your framer trim away the non-crisp edge.

People will look for anything to bitch about. I had someone bitch about a soft corner on a $15 dollar print shipped, so almost free. Give people a reason and they will ask for a discount.

Depends on the damage and the affect it has on the print.
I had a framer damage a print. They somehow cut two pieces out of the border. It's a deckled edge print. They said, "Oh well. It's the border. It's there to protect the image."

A little blue pill can straighten out soft edges.

Forgot about all the people with OCD who freak if a millimeter is gone from one edge.bighitters wrote:Cragars wrote:For repair, just have your framer trim away the non-crisp edge.
Probably shouldn't have said that for 'repair' though

I would have replied,
