This is mine and its my extra flat file at my shop. Its a vintage all wood flat file with brass handles. I modified it and throw some legs from ikea on it and wood topper. I stained the wood topper and sealed it with polyurethane. Hit me up if your interested.

I think I'm going to start hunting for a flat file in Houston. I've been putting it off but I'm amassing too many prints to frame or sandwich. I checked CL, but I got about 790 listings for file cabinets and office furniture. Does anyone have any tips on keywords to whittle down the list? Or, better yet, anyone in Houston looking to move one?
P.S. I don't mind a fixer upper.

I got one of mine from an engineering company here in Houston, letting older wooden units go due to digital age.

So much CAD and PDMS based deliverables are all electronically stored nowadays that there is zero need for em along with the electronic archiving of older engineering drawings.

Thanks guys. I've amended my searches to include your suggested terms. Got one possibility, waiting to hear back from the seller.

Are these way overpriced or is it just me? What would be a fair offer for the tan one on top?

Well overpriced for sure. $150 is doing them a deal.

Yeah, thanks RN. Maybe not even worth the offer, then. Not real big on the metal anyway. I'd like a nice wood piece so it doesn't look ridiculously out of place in the bedroom. Oh well, the search continues.

Yessir. Been on the hunt for about a month now, but it seems like it's slim pickins. I've got permission to buy my own Xmas present this year.

Okay guys, I need some help I think. I've been on the hunt for 6 weeks now and I haven't found diddly. I've been searching CL and ebay at least twice a week, I've checked in with a few architecture firms, and I've exhausted leads at local art stores and framers. Nada. If someone here has any leads on a flat file near Houston, please let me know. Save me before I rage buy a brand new $600 unit.

Just gotta be patient. Eventually something will pop up, just gotta be ready when it does. Also check Austin and Dallas and then make a day trip out of it.
