Got this for free. First restoration project.

Definitely learned a few things for next time, but enjoyed it. Still might try some die cast wheels, but happy for now.

The metal flat file document drawers new can run from $600-$1000+. I've kept an eye on craigslist and FB Marketplace and you can get them for 200-250. I decided, with my small collection to build by own solution for about $50.

that is beautiful. My Hamilton 5 section I picked up during covid. Needs some tweaking and what not but overall it's great. Had to relocate it to a basement area while work is being done in the house and then its back upstairs

local woodworker had an apprentice he took on during covid to give the kid a job, it was his first project and he crushed it. guess he grew up woodworking around his family and stuff so that was cool.

I think it was around $1000? I'd have to dig around and find out for sure but that sounds about right to me.

RCP13 can you advise how you made that thing so awesome. I have the same metal flat file to start with. Thanks

Thanks guys. Didn’t take much, just a palm sander and some mineral spirits to remove all that paint. Then just stained it and put on a coat of poly. There were some errors and learning experiences mixed in there too, but overall easier than I thought.
