Hello everyone,

I purchased two beautiful 43" wide flat files at the beginning of the year for only $50! It was an absolute steal; I only needed one, so my dad made use of the other one for his vintage sports card collection.

Anyway – given the hot Texas summer heat, I’ve started to notice a bug every now and then crawling around my house late at night. Currently, my flat file is sitting directly on the floor, and I thought it best to raise it up a bit before/if the bug situation gets worse. My home is impeccably clean, but I guess that won’t stop bugs from seeking shelter at the end of a hot summer day.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to raise this huge ass flat file off the ground by 4-8" or so with relatively little effort? This would also help with flood prevention – my location is prone to hurricane weather in the Spring season.

Apologies – I am not very savvy with DIY stuff. Thanks!

- Marco

Casters may be a solution if you can figure a way to mount them

2.)casters for sure.

I made a wood base with plywood and heavy duty casters. I used the general idea of this one but without the sliding drawers:
