Can I get some recommendations on supplies to use for shipping a print flat? I've only ever shipped a print flat when it was shipped to me flat and I always just reused the same shipping materials. If I was to buy cardboard/foamcore/etc., what specs would I look for? Obviously, I would need it to be sturdy enough to stand up to handling in shipment. So, is there a thickness/weight/etc., that you would look for? And can you recommend a specific product that can be purchased online? Amazon, I'm guessing, or is there an art-specific retailer that has decent prices online?

I make a sandwich consisting of 1/4" plywood on the outside with cardboard and foam core on the inside.

1/4: plywood
cardboard
foam core
ART
foam core
cardboard
1/4" plywood.

The nice thing is that you don't need to worry about it being bent.

I've sent 12x12 Obey album cover prints in cardboard sandwiches. I usually use 6 to 8 layers of carboard.

That method will likely get you f’d on a usps insurance claim if theres damage as someone mentioned before. I do a couple layers of cardboard, then an actual mailer/box. Similar to how obey used to ship their letterpresses.

The point of the plywood sandwich is that it basically can't be damaged, except by getting wet. If I am using the sandwich, I also put the print in a taped up sleeve so water really isn't an issue either.

Do they make mailer boxes for 18x24 prints?

the only trick is finding a proper box without having to line the Uihlein's pockets.
