gambit's flat file

Created this in order to not spam Mcgraws thread.

So a while back I bought a flat file and pretty much didn't do anything to it. Well I figure I should update the progress of it and what I was able to do after the last couple of days. I have a wooden top that has already been built by Mcgraw (thanks dude) and will end up adding a glass top to it within the next week or so. Below are pictures of the progression.

Getting the paint off of the flat file and what it looks like fully stripped. Really liked this look actually however it wasn't clean enough for my taste so I decided to add my own paint. This was done back in November of 2013.

Picked up the flat file from Mcgraws and took it back to my place to paint it. I ended up going with a dark grey for the outside and white drawers. April 2014.

1st coat of white for the front of the drawers.

I then decided to paint the top drawer white so you could see it through the glass after it is added.

1st coat of paint for the inside.

after it was dried and all said and done.

Really happy with how it turned out and will update once I get a chance to add the wooden frame and glass top. I am also going to be plasti dipping my handles grey to match it. Thanks for reading.

So here is an update of where we are now.

I ended up having to order handles online as the FF has an awkward sized handles of 4.25". They should be getting here within the next week.

Also, mcgraw23 did me a solid and finished up the table top that will reside on top of the flat file so I could lay a piece of glass on top.

I ended up going to Floyd's out in Taylor, Texas. They are great people and said it should be in within the next 5-7 days. Will update with pictures when the glass comes in.

The glass should be here by mid-next week. Then done with the entire project!

So the glass got done early and I couldn't help but drive out there immediately and get it. This is it on top. Very happy with the way it turned out and am only waiting for the handles on Monday.

You guys don't worry about someone putting a big glass of OJ on there and it being knocked over?

Also, that looks really nice, congrats! :notworthy:

No not really. It goes to the edge so if something spills over it will probably go over. But in the random off chance it gets in all of my prints are in bags inside as well.
