Picks are in, reealllly not sure which overall direction the academy is gonna go this year, feels like a lot of toss ups. Who cares! Gonna do a full-on steak dinner at home with the lady, martinis, champagne, going in late to work tomorrow, let's have some fun!

I'd like to say I am locked and loaded with my picks, but three categories are plaguing me with indecision. I might be revising up to the last minute.

Film Independent Spirit Awards were a lot of fun yesterday, I thought. It's an increasingly welcome palate cleanser the day before the narrow focus and pomposity that is the Oscars (which, dont get me wrong, I also enjoy).

While I think Richard E Grant should win. He hasn't been snubbed, yet.

I would have rather had Buscemi get the nomination over Rockwell. He shines in The Death of Stalin.

Keeping with tradition, the reporters on the red carpet are as fake and airheaded as possible. Michelle Yeoh looks very nice; super classy.

Awkwafina went with the Rob Jones look 8)

I'm tinkering too! Sound Editing, Visual Effects, Production Design, Costume, and all the shorts categories. I feel like many of these categories could go different ways.

I'm rooting for Bale over Malek, but I'm choosing with my head, not my heart.

Independent Spirit Awards seemed like fun. Where/how do you watch them?

Sound I split the difference with my two top picks. Production Design also a later change.

BUT, I just swapped my Doc Short pick, last second. Hope that pays off.

Watched the Spirit awards middle of the night last night on IFC. Recommended watch list now, for next year!

Good luck movie nerds!
