Got this sweet poster signed by Darren Aronofsky last year. Great movie. And Natalie Portman up for Best Actress again too.

Thanks for running this! With a young kid, I've missed a lot of the films and won't get to see them until later this year. That said, I loved Arrival and it was probably my favorite of the year. There's been a lot of science fiction films in the last few years that were *almost* great, so it was such a relief that they didn't drop the ball on this one. It's a genre that I personally love.

I'm rooting for La La Land. I get the criticism, but it really rang my bell.

Here are Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn backstage getting ready to present at the 1956 awards

Must you remind us how much better Hollywood used to be? My, that is an awesome photo--thanks for posting!

Thanks so much for organizing this once again Adam. Look forward to it every year.

My picks are in and here is the required still/gif that's actually a youtube link. If that doesn't qualify, then I"m cool just participating. It's the entire Documentary Short winner from 1952, Neighbours by Norman McLaren. Pretty odd that this highly stylized film won in a documentary category. Enjoy!

Sunday is creeping up on us! Cheers to all the returning participants and welcome to all you Rotten Oscars virgins. Lets get it on :pint:

It'll be interesting to see how Kimmel does. He's the best out of the currently bland slate of late night hosts. I generally like him. He'll fare much better than Fallon at the Golden Globes (especially if he steers clear of awkward Chris Rock impersonations).

Feel like this video is relevant to alot of the complaints people sling at the oscars each year.
good luck to all those participating. I think at the end of the day we are all winners because we all got to see some really dope movies last year. Regardless how they are recognized for it.
jkw3000 - Nobody ever really wins in this hobby.

ethnosax wrote:As for live-action, I assume La La Land (haven't seen it yet) will run away with a bunch, because there's nothing Hollywood loves more than awarding movies about Hollywood. (Recent examples: The Artist, which, even though I'm a silent-film fan, I thought was gimmicky and a missed opportunity. And Birdman, which I found thoroughly vile, though I know that's just personal opinion.)
I wasn't crazy about Birdman either. It's not bad, just overrated. I would've liked to see Whiplash or Nightcrawler win best picture in 2014.
2014 was just a silly good year.
Whiplash definitely resonated more than most films in recent memory....
Nightcrawler was scathing and ridiculously on point...
But I am a sucker for tracking shots...and considering that it really is an oveall effort...I don't know, I think I would still pick Birdman for picture

Whiplash would take this year, easy.
(also, hacksaw ridge is garbage)
