So, my awesome lady friend knew I had been wanting a turntable setup for some time now. Things kept coming up and this never happened.
Well, she went out and surprised me with a table and receiver for my birthday. Unfortunately, despite her extensive research, I dont think the setup is what I was really after. Regardless, awesome of her to do and I'll make the best of it!

So, after checking the vinyl revival thread, and seeing an awesome looking setup, Im wondering what my next move should be.
With what Ive got, is there any recommendations? Probably need to look at some decent speakers.

Heres my setup (id consider it budget audiophile)

Pro-ject Debut Carbon TT w/ Ortofon 2M Red cart
Pro-ject speedbox ii
Pro-ject Acryl-it platter
Yamaha AS 500 Integrated Amp
2-channel Pioneer Andrew Jones FS52 tower speakers
Schiit Modi DAC
Schiit Magni Headphone Amp
Alessandro MS1 headphones
Laptop
5 disc CD player
Dual Cassette Deck
DAT player

Neither my cassette deck nor my DAT player are hooked up due to lack of space and only get hooked up on an "as need" basis.

^^^^^^^^Nice. I almost dove in to the vinyl hobby just to listen to some original Zappa, but thought twice about starting a new obsession.

Hate to make it harder for you, but if there's one artist where the vinyl is by far the best for sound quality, and sometimes the only way to hear the original mixes, it's Zappa.

The only way to fly...still fairly easy to pickup too. One Size Fits All, Overnite Sensation, and Hot Rats sound incredible.

Not a huge audiophile, but I do love my setup. Dieter Rams' Atelier series. I have a Sonos hooked up to the auxiliary-in and an Airport Express into the Sonos for Airplay functionality.

debating buying a project acrylic platter http://www.needledoctor.com/Pro-Ject-Ac ... de?whence= for my debut carbon. Will it make that big of a difference? I know it will get rid of the static and the vinyl sticking to the felt which will be nice. I read people saying it made the bass sound richer. Hmmmmm

Anyone have a solid pair of ear buds for running/indoor biking? Bluetooth, can take the sweat and delivers the bass. I normally listen to house music while working out and for some reason more recently my buds haven't been living up to how they used to perform. Seems like no matter what I search for on Mr Google, everything has a 3/5 star review.
