Not a fan of UM's music but they nailed that, not an easy task keeping up with drums and vocals for that either.poopsicle wrote:JK but awesome rendition
Just always impressed with Meyers' (drummer) ability to play the parts of both Danny Carey AND Maynard. Obviously has help on percussion but still...FrankBooth wrote:Not a fan of UM's music but they nailed that, not an easy task keeping up with drums and vocals for that either.

I guess this could be considered a tribute to Mike Nichols in a roundabout warped kind of way. Hate if you want but I've never really liked the S&G version and this one really slays...

I dunno if anyone can slay Queen, but these guys do a hell of a job comparing.

Its a great rendition, no doubt. That entire Monterey show is one of the greatest in rock history. However, the original is still the best and will always be the best. Jimi was absolutely amazing! Best guitar player in the universe. And I say universe because I don't think he was from this planet, haha!
Eric Clapton said that after he saw Jimi play that he was going to have to start selling shoes for a living. Of course he was joking around, but that says something.
Best, most humble, amazing musician and person. Such a shame he is not with us anymore. At least all of the Experience is up there somewhere playing again after all these years. We don't see you no more in this world, we'll see you on the next one Jimi, don't be late!

Didn't realize this was even a cover till I saw Iron & Wine perform it on Letterman last night... originally recorded by Unicorn whose album was produced by Gilmour...

Tool does an awesome cover of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter on Salival.

Never really liked the distorted vocals on the original so this is actually an improvement IMO:

Though there is not necessarily a good recording of Yawning Man's, I'd say this one can sit comfortably next to it.
