Totally backing these.

You'd probably do well checking some of those best of lists to make sure you haven't slept on any good ones. For a handle like "mrkyuss", I'd suggest:
The Obelisk: http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2014/01/0 ... l-results/
or Roadburn: http://www.roadburn.com/2014/01/uncle-a ... ssociates/

Cynic...

Much better than I expected from the samples I heard. It's not what I wanted nor what the metal-y Cynic fans will want. No harsh vocals at all, more of Masvidal's processed clean vocals.
The Seans save this record. Drums and bass are the impressive parts here. Guitar seems to double the bass and it is rarely, if ever, heavy.

Take the poppy, most accessible parts from Traced in Air and that's what you get here.
Won't be in a position to sell for a few months. Not likely before end of May 2014 please don't pm and ask.

I liked about 3 songs on that Behemoth. I'm pretty bored by the same slow part they use in every song on every album. The first 2 minutes of "Blow...Gabriel" is IMO the biggest drawback to this band. When they play fast, they are punishing. When they do the slow parts, they're just taking up space until a fast part and bores me to tears.

Oh yeah, no mention in here yet of the At the Gates new recording? Don't remember the specifics but if you use the googles, you will find the announcement that ATG is active again as a recording band.
I think I'm happy about it. They tore the roof off the place when I saw them last year so there is no doubt that they still have the performance angle down. I suspect this was why Anders left The Haunted last year. As well as doing his 70's horror music, it would be tough to write different material for both The Haunted and At The Gates.
Not like we all didn't see it coming though...

It's good. Especially where Mike Scheidt is in the mix. Makes me hungry for a new Yob album.
