No, CM Punk was starting from scratch. There is a pretty good 4 part reality show that the UFC released the last month called "The Evolution of Punk" where a camera crew followed him over the last 2 years of his training. It's very entertaining. He literally learned MMA from the ground up and is fighting a legit prospect in his first fight, on PPV. Dude has some balls.Codeblue wrote:This Gall dude has to be hired to take a fall, right? Does the WWF dude even have any wrestling (not wrasslin) background at least?

Ive watched that gif a ton of times, just awesome. RDA fight aside Cerrone is one of my favorite fighters to watch. Always brings it. Also like him at 170, seems to have more pop without that weight cut, and he still has the power as he has finished all 3 of his fights at 170.
Anyone that expected that to go any other way is just delusional.

This should be a lesson to all of the bar room tough guys out there, you can't kick anyone of their asses who compete at the highest level.TheBeard wrote:Anyone that expected that to go any other way is just delusional.
Credit to Punk for making the walk and chasing a dream.
I know Gall is mainly a grappler, but it woulda been nice to see him trade a bit before the takedown. I know dude trained with Roufus or whatever, but it woulda been more satisfying to see him get "knocked dead". #freedelta
P.S. Luls @ Overeem for whining about a tap that never happened.

Yeah, the fact that he went out there and actually stepped in the ring I have to give him a ton of credit. But he never had a chance... also, Gall's entrance song was so perfect.mr_rugby wrote:This should be a lesson to all of the bar room tough guys out there, you can't kick anyone of their asses who compete at the highest level.TheBeard wrote:Anyone that expected that to go any other way is just delusional.

Trying to find a gif of Punk's swing and miss at the start of the fight.

Not sure that can even be classified as a swing, more of a wave.
I'll credit him for trying, but it's a real show of disrespect to those that have been training in some discipline or another all their lives... or at least for more than a year and a half.mr_rugby wrote:This should be a lesson to all of the bar room tough guys out there, you can't kick anyone of their asses who compete at the highest level.TheBeard wrote:Anyone that expected that to go any other way is just delusional.

That's, of course, if he legitimately thought he was gonna win, which I don't think he did.

Not as good night for CM Punk. It was pretty funny that his former employers took a subtle jab at him too. But much props for getting in there and he still goes home to AJ Lee, so there's that.
