Nope. Derrrrrrrrrrp.
He did exactly what DipchitDave Roberts does.
Only relies on analytics for 8 innings then watches the wheels fall off like a chump.
Kimbrel isn’t a closer anymore…
It sucks because the manager gets to blame it on his closer and he gets off the hook.
Such horseshit.
I knew Kimbrel would cost Philly a game if he was always relied on in the 9th.
100%.
If he doesn’t reevaluate it may cost Philly the trophy:
You look at past at bats.
You look at who is hitting the ball hard, who has looked lost at the plate.
Matchups.
Not every team has a 9th inning lights out pitcher.
IMHO they are rare.
There were a couple lights out guys like Trevor Hoffman, Gagne, Rivera… suddenly every team thinks they have a closer.
I watched Kimbrel tank too many times.
I’m actually shocked he hasn’t been forced to retire after his time in LA.

The past is the past. What you see know is happening now. I am not a kimbrel fan honestly but he gets it done most times when called upon. I suspect you haven't watched the phils on much more than a casual basis because thomper has used Alvarado, Hoffman, sotoa d Dominguez all in save situations. Also kimbrel in 7th. Kimbrel has been good lately so no need to change. I am sure he was thinking kimbrel holds and then strahm comes in for a longer relief and soto closes. Just didn't get through it. Oh well today is a new day
That’s all you can ask for.
That’s the only real way to use a pitching staff when you don’t have a super closer.
Yup… admittedly I watch less and less MLB, guessing balls and strikes is asinine AF.
Will hopefully watch more when it’s mercifully fixed.
Reading up last night it’s a shame to read all the hate Kimbrel has to carry, when imho the manager and the offense should be bearing some of the blame. Hoping to read a blurb today about Thomper stepping up for his player and taking his lumps.
Read a bunch of I told you so’s, with pictures of Kimbrel in blue.
Par for the course… he was terrible in LA, but he had to work with Dave Roberts.

Hindsight/ arm chair quarterback stuff aside, it’s such an opportunity wasted.
So close to being up 3-0 and completely slamming the door.
Philly should easily go up 3-1, and walk away with a trip to the WS, but if they somehow lose this series… woah.
The Phillies will be thinking about last night for years. A 3-0 lead is devastating to an opponent.
You know… insurmountable.
AZ has life, but not much.
You’re fine mate… looking good. 4-1 or 4-2.
Houston and TX are going to beat each other up and the winner will be exhausted after probably going 7 and using all their arms.
I’d still feel confident.
