Not looking good at getting a season this year. Owners and players seem too far apart on money. And as this drags on, not sure how many players are going to want to play a shortened season? Heard the players want to (somehow) squeeze in 114 games, while owners are pushing for 50 plus a longer postseason.

If it’s not a go past July, drymount it and just show up to spring training next year
Totally agree.Woo5lscott wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 12:15 pmIf it’s not a go past July, drymount it and just show up to spring training next year
How about a 20 game season followed by a blind draw for the playoffs. All teams are in. 5 game series for the first 2 rounds then 7 for the last 3.

Looking forward to LONG GONE SUMMER this Sunday about the McGwire/Sosa 1998 homerun chase.
Watched the Bruce Lee BE WATER 30-for-30 documentary on ESPN from last Sunday. It was good but could have been so much better. Focused too much on identity politics and racism for my taste. The Lance Armstrong 2-part documentary was good as well. Still could have been longer as the second part felt rushed a bit to me.

I was in Fenway Pahk (kid) watching a Pedro vs Cone duel* when the news came down about McGwire. Entire place started chanting Six-tee-TWO, six-tee-TWO (kid). Ah, the steroid era! I miss it.
*btw Da Skankees won and Cone got a big ovation when he was pulled. Pedro, too.

I was in Busch for 61,67,68,69,70 and numerous earlier ones. Looking forward to this look back. As a kid at the time it was a blast.
I read a good article speculating on whether Lee would have been good in the UFC. The consensus was he would have been a champ. He would have needed to pick up ground game skills but I don't think that would be a problem for himIrishman12 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 9:39 pmLooking forward to LONG GONE SUMMER this Sunday about the McGwire/Sosa 1998 homerun chase.

Heck, even if they have zero regular season games and a league wide tourney it is better than nothing.

They're not making much headway and the longer this goes on, the likelier we won't see baseball this season. The NBA and NHL already have plans to come back. This doesn't bode well with the CBA set to expire after the 2021 season. Owners are crying poor but won't open the books and players aren't willing to give up any more. Personally, I'm on the players side on this. They're risking COVID-19 and potential injury (especially pitchers) for anywhere from 50-89 games from what I'm hearing. They've already given up some salary earlier this year and now they're being asked to give up more. If the owners are crying poor, I say open up the books or shut up. Not to mention teams such as Oakland and Anaheim, who originally stated they would no longer pay their minor leaguers and were shamed into walking that back.

LONG GONE SUMMER was put together very well. Definitely takes you back to 1998 and glad they at least touched upon the steroids issue and didn't ignore it completely. I was pleased with the results of this documentary. Looks like nothing's left in the pipeline for 30-for-30 unfortunately (or anything anytime soon).

Saw the JUNIOR documentary that aired on the MLB Network recently. It was good and I enjoyed it but it could have been more in depth and longer, which I feel would have turned out a better product. But what we were given, was enjoyable.
