Well, the media is assuming KD will simply bounce back from this tiny injury and be worth a bazillion at zero risk...

I think they're assuming that even KD at 80% is still worth it when he's being paired with Kyrie. The potential is certainly tantalizing even if it's very realistic that this may be the beginning of the end for him, unfortunately.

I kinda expect the pairing to blow up for off-the-court reasons first though.

And once again, the Knicks don't get a single big free agent. $70 million to spend and no one wants to come to New York. The problem is James Dolan and the culture they have there!

Interesting 4 team deal involving Jimmy Butler.

"The Miami Heat completed a four-team trade that allows them to sign All-Star guard Jimmy Butler to a four-year, $142 million contract, league sources told ESPN on Monday.

The Heat are sending center Hassan Whiteside to the Portland Trail Blazers, guard Josh Richardson to the Philadelphia 76ers and a protected 2023 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers to secure the salary-cap flexibility to complete the sign-and-trade deal with the 76ers, league sources tell ESPN.

The Blazers acquired Whiteside for forwards Meyers Leonard and Maurice Harkless, sources said. Harkless and his $11 million expiring contract are headed to the Clippers in the deal, which is the reason the Clippers were able to extract the protected 2023 first-round pick."

I actually really like the 6ers getting rid of Butler's huge contract and picking up a very good young player in Richardson that hustles and plays D.

I'm also interested to see how Whiteside does in PDX, (if he can stay healthy).

Westbrook and Harden back together again and I'm extra confused as to whether or not any of their teammates will ever touch the ball again.

If the Rockets/D'Antonio are smart, they will run a different offense and kindly leave "Harden/ISO" in the recycle bin. Common sense would say that the 2019 Rockets will run an offense that looks more like 2015 OKC (with Harden subbing for Durant) than 2018 Houston. Westbrook can't and won't play off the ball. Harden can (dunno if he will like it tho).

 That's great. Yeah, this experiment isn't going to work. Looks good on paper, but besides a lack of depth, Harden and Westbrook are practically useless without the ball. Only way this works if Westbrook dominates the ball and finds Harden when he's double/triple teamed and Harden knocks down the shots. We'll see but even still, don't think they have enough to beat the likes of the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Blazers and Nuggets.

Injured star Kevin Durant showed off his new jersey and Kyrie Irving was pictured working out Thursday as the Brooklyn Nets provided a glimpse of preparations for their upcoming NBA campaign.

So what's everyone's take on the current NBA/China situation? Personally, I find it hypocritical as the NBA, as well as the players, pride themselves as being at the forefront of social justice issues. However, when it comes to China and losing all of those sweet sweet Chinese dollars, now everyone's afraid to speak out against it. I agree that Daryl Morey had the right to express his own personal beliefs with his tweet but like most, I'm sure nobody expected this kind of backlash. Again, I just find it hypocritical that they're bowing down to the Chinese government strictly because of economic reasons. Faces of the league (Curry and LeBron) are even backpedaling saying they aren't that "educated on the issue" so they won't comment on it (although LeBron did just that yesterday). Plus the NBA allowed the Chinese government to silence the players after their games in China as a CNN reporter wasn't allowed to get a question answered by Westbrook and Harden and then after the Lakers/Nets game, the media wasn't allowed access to players at all. Like everything else in this world, cash is king!
