Yikes

There was a mention that the Bucs were going after him in trade.

Sad to see Gurley go. Worse, couldn't even get a draft pick for him but not surprised. I see a fourth place finish coming. Sigh.
Wanda: I can't stand people. I hate them. Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

Nice distraction from the fine and loss of draft pick.

Distraction? Nah, part of the plan ... Pats signed Cam for peanuts He'll play well, sign a big contract elsewhere next year and the Pats will get their 3rd round pick back as a compensatory pick.

Do you they already get one for Brady?

yes. Brady''s will be for the next draft. If they pull the trick off with Cam (even if they get a 4th or 5th), that would be the 2022 draft.

A healthy Cam Newton might just win a SB. He has been in bad physical shape for the past 2 years. Maybe the layoff will leave him 100% This of course assumes there will be a season.

Luls, all part of the plan. Punishment is a fat bag of nothing, ultimately. The timing of the Cam announcement was as strategic as anything though.
Do most Pats fans view this as an upgrade over Brady? I don't have a lot of confidence in Newton these days but he certainly had loads of talent.

So, I would guess most of my friends (and I) think it's a change from Brady 2020 (up or down, no idea) ... let's see 1) how healthy he is and 2) what McDaniels can cook up.

It could just be an insurance plan if Stidham isn't ready ... and if he is, Cam gets cut. No idea right now. He's a former MVP and he's only 31. I'm excited to see what'll happen.

We had to move on at some point.

Then there are some Pats fans (a massive minority, but enough to fill a twitter feed) that are flat out racists, and this could get ugly. Hoping we can cancel all those assholes by Week 1.

If Cam is healthy and usually is in good shape throughout the off season, this could be something.

Some fairly bad teams, namely the Jags and Bears could regret this. Cam is just a complete presence on the field, dude is an athletic marvel. McDaniel's can probably throw together something like he did in Denver with Tebow.

I think he'll be in a different mindset and Billy B won't necessarily try to stifle his unique personality, besides when it applies on the field.

McDaniels didn’t get much of anything out of Tebow, though. They went to the playoffs that year on sheer luck. W’s a W but those late season wins were hilarious (or exciting if you’re from DEN). Crazy run.

Fortunately Cam is 300x the QB that TT was.
just a foil for me today, thanks
