The Ebay Advice Column
I always used to double check PayPal payment details with order on eBay to make sure it went through and that it wasn’t a processing echeck or some stupid fudge. is there any way to view that ebay was actually paid properly? or is that their problem?
basically i want to make sure i get my money now that it’s basically being held in escrow with ebay.

It's their problem I presume. Generally you get an email when your auction ends and then one when it's been paid and you are free to ship. Or just one if someone takes a buy it now and has to pay before the item is ended. So it's on them to make sure that payment has come through, cotis wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 5:01 pmI always used to double check PayPal payment details with order on eBay to make sure it went through and that it wasn’t a processing echeck or some stupid fudge. is there any way to view that ebay was actually paid properly? or is that their problem?

next up: anyone have success with ebay refunding shipping label payments? bought a UPS Ground label for $11.16 (shown in my account) and on my first “payout” deducting all fees and fudge for month of December the shipping charge showed the label as $30+ for a tube going to England.

i was a little hesitant about ebay payments but have found it to be pretty smooth. cuts out the middle man which paypal really wasn't adding a whole lot of value. cancellations/refunds/etc are seamless and now that paypal wants to keep all the fees no matter what... its nice to not deal with them. you can set daily payouts so the delay in funds really isn't that big of a deal and funds hit your bank next day. transferring funds out of paypal into your bank is slower.
What if someone files a claim when their package is running late? Does ebay take money directly from your bank account? I have only dealt with an item not received claim once but ebay took the funds from my paypal as soon as the claim was filed. I don't really like the idea of them having that kind of access to my bank account on the whim of a fussy buyer.

So far 3 chargebacks on ebay payments have been a dream. I put in the tracking number, they rule in my favor and take the hold off my money.

the resolution process hasn't changed so funds still get frozen until it is resolved. however, if you have funds from previous sales with ebay... those are held instead of dipping into your bank account. i always kept a zero balance in paypal so if i got a claim, my balance went negative and had to transfer funds over which took 3-5 BD. as i said... just cuts out the middle man.

Once I opened a business checking account (which I should have done long ago) eBay payments have gone fine so far for me.

ebay payments took $30.16 from me, and the label was $11.29. the little pop up which shows the weight & size of the item is inaccurate. they bumped it up to 3lbs overall weight, when it was 1 lbs and 10oz. I think I added on an extra 5oz to cover my ass for tape and +/- of the scale, but I have a digital scale and have never weighed something incorrectly. Base rate is fine, declared value is fine, fuel is whatever, but I have no clue what "Disc" for $3.46 or "Misc1 Amt" for $4.90 is.
and on the FedEx site it even shows the proper weight:
I've had FedEx/UPS payments jump a dollar or two in past which is fine, but this is a bit absurd.

I believe the 3 pounds is the dimensional weight, which is what fedex uses (not actual weight).
And one of the other two fees most likely is for a non-standard size, since it was a tube and not a box.
