Well first time with a bad experience with an Ebay seller user olddirtyhazzard .

I won't go into everything but they used old pieces of cardboard from an amazon box to ship the print. It came bent and he is claiming that the item was packaged properly and that the post office damaged it. I asked for a full refund and advised that he will need to send a return label to mail it back. Says that he packed properly and would not give me a full refund. Does this look properly packed for what was in the mailer?

it doesn't matter what he thinks, you'll get all your money back from ebay. if he wants to file a claim with USPS that's up to him

^ exactly. File a claim and let the seller deal with it. You may have to pay for shipping it back if they want it back, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

Alright, here's an interesting one....

1) Buyer makes and offer on an item
2) I counter offer
3) Buyer accepts counter offer
4) Buyer does not pay for item (even though I always check the box "immediate payment required"
5) confused how its possible he bought the item without paying when this option was checked, I pull up his order and try to send a message to which I am informed his eBay account is no longer active
6) I contact eBay to ask what I should do considering his account was deactivated, and they reply that my item has been automatically re-listed
7) Almost immediately after receiving the email that my item was re-listed, the original buyer pays for the item, and his account is now active
8 ) Feeling questionable about this situation I contact eBay again, and they inform me not to ship the item to him because his account has been flagged for fraudulent activity, and that they will reverse the transaction after they finish reviewing his account
9) It's been several days and the $$$$ is still sitting in my paypal account with an open order....

My question for the eBay pros is, how long should I allow this money to sit in my account? It's pretty inconvenient to have $1k+ of someone elses money sitting in my paypal account that I expect will eventually be reversed... I don't want to withdraw this amount and then be caught unexpected if and when they do end up reversing it, and If I cancel the order myself I believe I will still be responsible for paying the eBay fees on the sale. Ebay assured me that it was noted on my account that I was told not to ship the item, but I feel like somehow I am going to end up getting screwed here (even though I am not so secretly hoping Ill actually end up getting to keep the item and the $$$$ :-P

Anyone been in a similar situation? How long would you let the funds sit in your account for? Appreciate any recommendations for how to best proceed

Crazy. Never been in that situation but I would not move the money. Eventually it will come out of your account and its better IMO to have it just come from your PayPal balance as opposed having it pulled from your bank account.

They only have to pay immediately if they use buy it now. They do not for offers afaik.

I am not sure about your situation in particular but every time I have cancelled a sale on ebay I get a fee credit for the item.

Doesn't paypal now keep the fee from the seller?

Paypal fee, maybe. Definitely not the ebay final value fee.

Yep, as others have said. Just file a claim and get your money back. Anytime i ship a tiny flat print i either use thin wood or place it in a box. Placing cardboard in a mailer and writing "do not bend" is almost asking for it. hahah Hell he probably could of put in inside the amazon box he destroyed :hanging:

eBay complaint: I bought something from the UK...

4 days later

Seller: it has a small tear I may want to cancel
Me: send me a photo, I may not care

4 days later with no response / pics from the seller

Seller: I cancelled the transaction, sorry if you are disappointed
Me: I'm disappointed that you didn't send pics like I asked as I may have gone through with the transaction

Then since I paid in pounds I get $25 less back as a refund due to currency fluctuations.

Shall I leave negative feedback?
