I would like it to be portable. Gaming in bed just sounds great. I'm keeping my current desktop, but it's going to serve primarily as a media server. I could easily hook this up to a monitor if I needed to. If you don't mind me asking, why should Windows 10 be the pro version?FrankBooth wrote:You need this to be portable? Otherwise I'd definitely say this would serve better in a desktop.ChrisV wrote:Don't know if this the right spot for this, but I'll go ahead and ask. I'm looking to get back into PC gaming. My computer PC has a terrible GPU, and no space for any games. I was tossing around the idea of getting a gaming laptop that I can hook up to a monitor if I really need to. I'm leaning towards the new Alienware 15. This is what I've put together:
Video Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5
Processor
Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ (Quad-Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.5GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
Display
15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display
Memory
16GB DDR4 at 2400MHz (2x8GB)
Hard Drive
128GB M.2 SATA 6Gb/s SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)
Any opinions on this?
All that is nice, the 1060 is hitting well above its mark and at a nice price point. M.2 drives are stupid fast on paper (Compared to a regular sata SSD)
That is a sweet spot for memory, should be enough. Processor is fine as well. Only thing is W10 Home, needs to be professional.
Can we get a Video Game subforum?

Switch looks pretty poor.
Red Dead will be great no doubt.
I LOVE BF1! Ive only had it for 3 days but im almost confident I can call it the best Battlefield to date (and I put 80 hours in to BF4).
The overall “feel” of the game is what makes it. Get yourself the anti-tank kit and try not to smile when you hear the rifles shot. So drymounting good
A few minor negatives – only a handful of guns with variations of each. In BF4 for example, each sniper upgrade was significant and you’d unlock one with each level. In BF1, you’ll have all but 1 sniper by the 2nd level. It helps make the game more even/fair though which is what Dice wanted to do. The assault class isn’t great now. It used to be the overall class that could do everything, now its only good for blowing up vehicles.
And I cant get in to any game of Rush and Operations. Not sure if its because of the early edition or not.
The maps are the best yet in any online shooter ive played. It’s next level stuff. Weather effects coming in to play all adds to it. When it rains, the ground gets muddy and your gun gets caked in it all. Little things like that.
one thing that bothered me with the beta - its a WW1 game and they picked the drymounting desert map for it. Why not St Quentin Scar or something similar!
