Holy fudge that's the most confusing thing ever. Why would you signal left if you're going right? And signal left if you're going straight? That's almost as bad as calling cookies biscuits, and biscuits scones.

But also! many put their LEFT blinker on to tell the people coming in at the first turnoff that they are continuing past TO THE RIGHT and often leave the signal on as they do! Both options are completely made-up-on-the-spot rules and you have no idea what you're gonna get from someone, which makes going with the flow impossible when there's traffic, which defeats the goddam purpose of the roundies in the first place.

I digress- almost got murdered yesterday by someone who about broadsided, then beeped at me for thinking she was going left/straight out of the rotary b/c she had her left blinker on. Displeasing.

No worries if you're having a hard time picturing this or if you think it should be in the pet peeves thread- just trust me that it's a retarded process, that posting here is in keeping with the theme of the beef, and that NZ should be destroyed immediately after I leave. WheneverTF that happens.
Ok. Entering a round about in Australia...

If I'm going left, I indicate left.

If I'm going straight, I don't indicate until I hit the point where I'm entering the straight lane, then I indicate left that I'm going straight.

If I'm going right, I indicate right until the last point, then I indicate left.
wrong mate
going left, indicate left. going straight, dont indicate at all, going right, indicate right the whole time
people dont know how to use roundabouts. the amount of times I see cars stopping completely at them when not needed helps me understand why there are so many car accidents. people dont know how to drive

Don't forget, you eastern staters have different rules than us forward thinking sunsetting West Aussie folks. 8) We're renegades here.

Think of it as 'signalling left to say which exit you're taking'. Pretty simple when you see it in practice.

Indicating right to go straight is optional- I do it when it's not obvious that I'm not going left (usually where streets don't meet at right angles or are widely spaced) or bloodthirsty people look like they're gonna barrel in from the left. Then indicate left to turn out immediately after.

Cray cray, but still beats traffic lights in most places.

Guys guys guys, you're making it so complicated. Let me break it down:
Turning left = Signal left
Turning right = Signal right
Not turning = Don't signal!

I think that captures it...

We know what we are doing.

And yes- people stopping at rotaries when they could and should flow in drives me insane.

Exactly. We're intelligent folk. We know how to manage a round about.

Now, go to Scotland and try deal with their round about monstrosities that have merging lanes and traffic lights on them and see how your sanity stands up.

It's because the French know how to use a round about.

A poacher has been ordered to watch the Disney classic Bambi as part of his sentence for illegally killing hundreds of deer.

David Berry was ordered by a court in Missouri to watch the film at least once a month during his year-long jail sentence in what conservation agents have called one of the largest deer poaching cases in state history.

“The deer were trophy bucks taken illegally, mostly at night, for their heads, leaving the bodies of the deer to waste,” said Don Trotter, the prosecuting attorney in Lawrence county in the state’s south-west.
