Overall reddit is a waste of time. The key is finding the smaller forums created for special interests: frugalmalefashion, wicked_edge, hiking, gardening, astronomy, cinema, resumes, jobs, infosec, socialengineering, gamedeals, buildapc, etc. Aside from them, r/gonewild and it's branch are what keep me coming back.

for the potheads: r/trees

Crowd sourcing at it's finest.

I've been wanting to give that a go.

How bad is it?
Face has so much burn now.
Pffft.....you wanna hear about face burn?

When I was at college, I got so ridiculously stoned that I left the house to go clubbing, having absent-mindedly shaved only half my face, which was somewhat 'overgrown hobo-chic' at the time.

After about an hour of being in the first bar, someone kindly pointed out my little error.

I spent the a good while after that in the toilets, sparking a cigarette lighter against the hirsute side of my face until I'd singed everything away and evened it up smooth as a baby's bottom.

Aside from a few uncomfortable moments where the side of my face was literally on fire, I came out fine. That night, at least.
But the next day I was so damn red and sensitive. Not to mention a teensy bit crispy, too.
Took a good few days until I was right again.

Never did it again, though. So it's all good. :ziggi:

I just remembered a mishap I had with my first electric shaver.

My dad gave me his old one when I was about 14 or 15. It was an ancient late 60s/early 70s bakelite-cased monstrosity, with twin four-bladed rotors behind two circular screens that you needed to really press against your face to get any result.

I shaved myself ok with it, took off what light dusting of bum-fluff I was sporting at the time.
But then I kinda liked the noise and the vibration, particularly on my throat, and the strange super-sensitive feeling my freshly shaved skin had.
So I just kept going. For a long time.
I didn't realise that what I was actually doing was shaving off layers and layers of my skin, until eventually I had removed a good portion of the entire front of my throat.
Once it all turned scabbed over, I couldn't laugh or swallow without a lot of pain and cracking the skin......

I actually have a cut-throat razor somewhere. But I've decided it's best that I keep it in the box. It probably wouldn't work out well.

Then there's the time I electrocuted myself by holding bare wires in a plug socket to make some busted curling tongs work because I was pretending they were a light saber......but that's another story.

It's a miracle I made it to 34, all things considered.

Having a beard is so much easier. I did get my uncle to give me a cut throat razor shave once as he's a barber - felt great when done properly. But my skin is awfully sensitive so I haven't had it done again.

Otomo, your shaving stories are cracking me up!

You should write a novel!
Your writing makes me think of Christopher Moore.

Day two: face needs a break. Stubble grows in weird f'n directions that are hard to follow with this mf'er. Mebe safety razor time so I can more easily follow dat stubble.

Or use a modern razor that doesn't slice the fudge out of your face or take forever to set up.
