Rather impractical, but still a very interesting idea. The banded metamorphic bedrock outcrops of Central Park are very hard and cohesive, visually attractive, and great for bouldering, as I can attest having spent a fair amount of time goofing around on those rocks in my youth. Excavating around them to create some nice crags in the Park would be very cool, and probably add to the Park's substantial beauty.
