Dude deserves to be in jail, no question.

In my mind there was a 100% chance that his conviction would be overturned. He was deposed in a civil case against him after he was promised by the district attorney that he would not be prosecuted. If he doesn't get that promise he asserts his 5th amendment right against self incrimination in the civil case. His deposition testimony was used against him in the trial.

Further, having 5 women testify in his trial with accusations that didn't result in charges or convictions is extraordinarily prejudicial. Hell, it is problematic to allow evidence related to prior convictions during trial much less unsubstantiated accusations. When the one woman testified and the jury was hung, the judge then allowed 5 to testify in the re-trial.

Sadly, most criminal defendants that have fudge like that pulled against them have neither effective counsel nor the money for an appeal. They end up in jail. And while many of them may be guilty, there are certainly some that aren't.

The lessons I take from this are that the trial judge is a clown and the arc of justice bends toward a pile of money. If you have no pile of money, anything can happen to you.

Weinstein could get overturned for the same fudge. Less likely with a more liberal (I think) Supreme Court in NY, but money. #CREAM

Weinstein didn't have the non-prosecution facet but yes. I don't think liberal or conservative appellate courts matters that much. If Weinstein lives long enough, his convictions will be tossed.

When you buy a vehicle based on reputation for reliability and said vehicle out of nowhere does without warning. Then it turns out it needs a full engine replacement with only 85k miles on it. Then it turns out it was a known issue but the company never sent out any info to owners about it yet still managed to send out their magazines, sales promos etc on the reg. SUBARU SUCKS

It's a 2012 forester owned since new, never missed a service and was well maintained. Was running errands the other day and it sputtered a bit. No warning or anything. It was fine till it wasn't. Old enough to think about buying a replacement but would get nothing as far as trade in and prices are way up. So new engine it is. Would have been nice if Subaru offered some kind of good faith gesture but SUBARU SUCKS. My work vehicle is at 115k and not as much as a hiccup. grrrr blood boiling

It does suck. Sorry to hear, mate.

Next time go with honda/acura or toyota/lexus. The rest is… Well, the rest.
