The not so short version is I have a screensaver on my computer at work that randomly cycle's through thousands of images.
I need a screensaver because my computer does overnight data transfers and cant go to sleep.
The images are mostly art related or movie related. I love behind the scenes photos, I found a huge image dump of 2k Star Wars ones. Nature photography, space photography, etc.
Some of them are fashion photography because it's what many of my friends do and it's what we do as a company (it's a fashion, lifestyle website, directed at women. Think of vice, but for ladies).
Some of the photos are of women at premier's, in dresses, or something you would see in a fashion nothing salacious or pornographic, and many of the pictures actually came from our website.
I came in last week and someone wrote on a post it note:
"“hey, fyi some of your screensaver photos are really offensive”"
so i was mildly annoyed but didn't think they were insane for thinking that. just wish they had reached out directly. so i went through and deleted some. and left a note saying
"hey so sorry that they offended you. i went through and deleted some. if you have any issues in the future please reach out to me directly not anonymously"
two days later
"We think you're missing the point. Delete your male-gaze adjacent photos please. Thank you - All of Us"
It's hypocritical because the pictures on our site are way more expletive, women in bras and panties.
I just wish they would just be direct about it. it's childish.
im deleting all the photos and just putting images of milk and toast on repeat.

if you're not offending someone today then you're basically not existing.
I'm a bit of a luddite but couldn't you just turn the monitor off and leave the computer to churn on its own?

If there was nothing offensive in the storyboard, I would have asked my manager to look at the images and see if he/she was OK with the images. I wouldn't have mentioned that someone is jerking around with anonymous post it notes. If he/she was OK with the images, I would either ignore the next post it note or reply to it with a post it note that said the images were approved by management.35mmpaul wrote:The not so short version is I have a screensaver on my computer at work that randomly cycle's through thousands of images.

A quick and easy way to determine whether you are on solid ground, and if you are, an instant way to stop bullshit.
I always defer to someone who's wearing a beater, regardless of what else he's wearing.
