Although he will always be remembered for the grounder, I'll never forget the incredible catches he made on routine flies in the Dodger outfield.jamel-d wrote:Bill Buckner dies at 69
As a lifelong Red Sox fan. I never blamed Buckner for that loss. It was Rich Gedman's passed ball - not a Bob Stanley wild pitch, btw, check out the film - that gave that game away. The Sox wouldn't have been in that series without the years that Buckner and Don Baylor had in '86. Always felt that Buckner got a bad wrap, but he certainly accepted all the bulls--t with the utmost class. Sorry that he's gone and how. I lost my dad to dementia and it's debilitating. RIP Bill B!meskell wrote:Although he will always be remembered for the grounder, I'll never forget the incredible catches he made on routine flies in the Dodger outfield.jamel-d wrote:Bill Buckner dies at 69
That also was a significant contributor to the collapse, but both managers were pretty lousy that series, so they offset each other. I remember it like yesterday...was in a funk for a good two weeks...fredo wrote:It was McNamara's fault for leaving BBs obviously crippled ass out there for the last inning.
