I’d think almost everyone would be. Even with exhaustive preparation.

In our family, we have a working farm (corn and pigs) in the country near wildlife. Lots of tools, supplies, canned food, guns, bullets, etc etc

Won’t do much once some people find us and decide they want what we have. Not like we can grab everything and gas up and drive away.

I’d probably try to gas and pack up, find the gun shop, pharmacy and grocery store, and then head to the boundary waters to find an island in the middle of nowhere.

I've had the HAM radio manual for 3 years sitting on a shelf planning to get my license and then get a few radios to stay in touch if communications go down. I think any form of communication beyond your small community would be extremely valuable if some sort of Jericho-type scenario were to go down. Also, canned goods and 100 gallons of fresh water I think is a good idea for anyone to have.

I hate camping , and I once tried to grow my own vegetables . I worked really hard at it and I only had these small peppers survive. #notasurvivor

Make sure you have a tin foil hat that fits nice and snug.

My plan is like yours I live in northern mn. I'd hunker for awhile and head farther north to the bwca as well.

If SHTF, gold, bitcoins, or any currency won't be worth anything. Paper currency's worth is as a fire starter. You don't want to wipe your butt with something that was touched by many people. You want real currency, stock toilet paper and women's menstruation products in a dry, safe place. Guns, weapons of any kind, ammo, food and water. Not water in plastic bottles. The reason why there's an expiration date on water, it's when the plastic used can start degrading (depending on where it's stored).

I know, more than most people want to know.

^This. If you're going "survival" stock stuff that will be trade-worthy.

If you're in a natural disaster prone area, get:

Handheld HAM radios (at least one set).

Solar charger along with necessary device(s) to recharge batteries.

If you're in a large city, buy and learn how to drive a motorcycle. (Bug out bike.)

And a poor fire starter at that. LD posters ftw amirite.

Have things really gotten that bad that the measured, logical heads on EB are prepping for a cataclysm? I really hope these preparation ideals are all just a marketing ploy to sell ish, because if things do take a tumble I would imagine that the humane polite society that we have spent the last 100 years attempting to cultivate will be erased overnight. I would prepare with guns and ammo and a book full of good negotiation stratagies...maybe some precious metals.

I highly recommend taking a NOLS Wilderness First Aid course. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it.
