Hey everyone! A few months ago I decided to combine two of my passions - sports and leather working. The result was a bifold wallet I made from an old 1950's Ted Williams autograph model baseball glove. After showing it off to a few family and friends, I began getting requests from folks to make more for gifts and personal use. Wanted to share a few photos of some of them with you all. If there is interest, I'll continue to add pics here periodically. Otherwise I have FB and IG accounts & a few for sale on Etsy. Thanks for taking a look, really humbled by everyone's support and words of encouragement thus far!

Very cool idea. They look terrific. I gave your FB page a like.

Are you hand-stitching?

Just let me know if you want FB group links for making custom leather wallets/bags. Although I have a new machine that will sew (thin) leather...I don't plan on going in that direction, but can forward info on to you on such things. What machines are best for sewing leather, etc. How to color or burnish raw wedges..etc. The groups probably share patterns too.

Wishing you the best on your new endeavor.

great idea man. wallets look fantastic!

I have a good friend here in Miami that does something very similar and I own a few of her products. her company is called "Heist" because when she first got started she sourced her leather from found couches and furniture left on the side of the road...heisting her leather, get it? now she uses sustainably sourced leather for her products. she started out making handbags but now has a huge variety of items and leather types.

your use of old baseball gloves is really a great idea though!
I'd be interested in one but my Heist wallet is still in great shape.

Was actually on her site about a month ago taking a look. She has a lot of talent, I'm sure your wallet won't be wearing out anytime soon!

Yes, I'm hand stitching everything. Personally, I like the look and variation of hand stitched leather - as well as the challenge of trying to stitch it without imperfections. From everything I've read and seen, hand stitching will hold up better over time too. Must admit, the easy of machine stitching would save a lot of time, and the uniformity of the stitch looks more refined and professional. If I get to the point where I need to make 20 in a day - I may have to make the switch!

Any links to resources, FB groups, etc that you can share would be much appreciated.

Thank you all again for taking the time to look and giving such positive feedback!
