Are there a lot of women in this hobby?

Talk about anything here. Post lifespan is 1 year.

Hi all,

I was just wondering, from browsing around on this site for a few years now, are there a lot of women in this hobby?
I see lots of posts with guys giving lame excuses about their wives not wanting them to buy more etc. :) but I don't seem to see many women post here.
My husband and I both collect but fortunately share the same tastes in screenprints and we only keep what we can frame.

I'm curious to see the response, and what type of stuff you girls collect!

No. I think there’s only a small handful (like 2 or 3) who still post here semi-regularly.

Most of the women I talk to at art shows tell me they like to lurk but don’t like to post here. I hope that changes with the demographic shift occurring on ebeans right now and with the changes to the website that may be coming. More perspective and community is always nice

There are some who would say EB is somewhat misogynistic and kind of presents as a cliquey boys club. Although you do see some comments that support that theory, I think on EB, as in life, you find what you look for.

And you should know that the Goddess Queen of EB will always be Maxine.

I've been an EB member for many years but post rather infrequently, I use it mainly to catalog my collection. I collect quite a few movie posters (Mondo/Bottleneck/HCG, Black Dragon etc) , quite a few from commissions and a lot of art prints by favorite artists (especially James Jean, Audrey Kawasaki, Mark Ryden, Sylvia Ji, Redd Walitzki, Chris Conn Askew etc) Do giggle a bit when I see guys complain that their wives won't let them hang something though!

Shoot, I wish my wife were a Danzig fan

As it goes, she is into Hanson so the artwork we display is typically pretty saccharin (or quietly dark) with the exception of the horkey prints I manage to mix in. I have one room all to myself, hooray me

I think the cliquey part goes for the entire hobby, not boys specifically.
And yeah I guess, it is a question of finding what you look for.

It was the same for me for a long time, the internet can be a toxic place.
However, I hope it expands the fun of my hobby a bit to be more active here.
