can someone explain to me how audible works?
If you sign up, especially for a free trial, do you own the podcasts or are they just streamed?
there's currently a podcast on there that I want, but its $35 to buy outright, or I can get it for free if I sign up for a free 30 day trial - but im guessing ill need to enter cc details etc to do so.
I'll no doubt need to sign up too if I want to buy it outright.

Is it possible for a member to get the podcast as an mp3 and share it? Id happily pay for it if it means not having to sign up.

By podcast, do you mean audiobook? If it's a podcast (like The Butterfly Effect for example), then odds are you could find it out and about somewhere.

If it's an audiobook, then audible is the best way to go. If you don't mind having burner accounts, then go that route. Otherwise, sign up, enjoy the book, then cancel the membership. I get great value out of it, but I tend to put my account on hold quite a bit so I'm not backed up on credits.

it's a one off podcast, 6 hours worth. I need to hear it but really do not want to sign up to yet another website/service.

Trial is your best bet.

I assume you've already done a search on your podcatcher of choice?

A bit of back story - Casefile is probably my favourite podcast. It's all true crime. There's a particular podcast they did that covered a very full on case, it was 5 episodes worth. I'll link it below

This new particular podcast goes in to detail about the capture of the guy. He was active between 1976-1986, and committed a lot of fudge, but was faceless and nameless until this year.
