I know that's rhetorical, but the Vet got tired of trying to explain things to us Rooks.

Obviously knowing the potential for NFLX back in 2002 would have been a shot in the dark; and to think you're going to experience similar growth going forward is silly.

But if you do your homework, and you're right, it can have massive payoffs. It's simply a matter of diligence.
Or invested $50 in Bitcoin when it was at $3 for a dollar when I heard about it..... Talk about a big time Oof. That and wanting to buy Netflix at $19 in college but having no money are my two biggest whiffs.

hard to stroke the ego of someone who is the most entry level position at the firm he works at...but thank you for keeping me humble!

Should be an interesting week with the Fed decision looming. Still think we have to retest the lows of a few weeks back.

so what are people's thoughts on Volkswagen? This isn't so much of a stock question as a thought question due to this fraud...

They'll survive, might be a little rough riding for a bit. Yeah, they'll get slapped with a fine, but it won't shut them down. Also, if you live in CA and have a VW, watch out.

US equities are in an interesting place right now.

I have no clue what happens next, but would guess more channeled volatility @ the latest level. Maybe even climb the wall of worry a tiny bit until some geopolitical event breaks that trend.

I am out of all individual stocks as of two months ago. Had to pay for vacation and, incidentally, good timing. My retirement funds are diversified per the typical age calculations.

If I was looking to add new money to the market, I would place consecutive limit-buy orders to purchase index funds at serious correction levels, i.e., far below where we are now (Dow 14000ish?). If/when the limit order expires without execution, place new order with the same limit or alter slightly based on new data. Buy the big dips.
