Just purchased my third copy of The Old Man and the Sea, one of my very favorite books. I've read it too many times to count at this point. I gave copy #2 to daughter for school, and bought myself a hardbound. Probably read it again when I get it, just because.

I reread The Secret History by Donna Tartt on holiday. Easily one of my favourites ever. What do others think? Gets very mixed reviews, as some people think it's pompous, knowing etc. I think it's very well written and keeps you reading as well.

Quick comments - that Gaddis novel is amazing, but also amazingly difficult, so really only recommended if you like difficult books. 2666 was excellent, but I didn't think it was as good as The Savage Detectives. The Flight of Icarus is good (and funny), but I'd recommend The Blue Flowers or Exercises in Style by Queneau first though.
