Feels like a Dickel kinda hump day. First time trying out the 8 & 12 years (and that 15 is delicious and at a great price point).
I hate to be that guy, but those 8 and 12s are not years. Those are not age-stated.

I hate to be that guy, but does that 80's microwave still work? If so, very impressive.

Touché. I realized that afterwards. I still don't regret the purchase.

I would endorse giving the 15 year a try. I know Dickel is a polarizing brand for many, but that is head and shoulders above the rest of their offerings IMO.

What's the consensus on Old Elk Wheated Bourbon and Old Elk Straight Wheated Bourbon? I'm a fan of wheated bourbons but have only tried the OE Wheated Bourbon so far and wasn't overly impressed.

I really like Old Elk. I've done a couple of barrel picks with them and have really like the outcome.

The OE Wheated I tried was a barrel pick and they must not have selected a good batch then. Not very flavorful with a thin finish.

Today's pick-ups and first time trying both. The Blue Note, especially for it's low proof and price point (91.9 and $150 respectively) I was disappointed in. Had a mostly leathery taste with the faintest hint of spice on it. It was good but the price did not justify this after a first tasting. Will have to go back to it to see if it's not better a second time around. The High West was more enjoyable with plenty of mint, a little more spice (but not overly done) and about $100-$110 cheaper.

Blue Note 17 is just really old Dickel. Hard pass for me.

I do love me some Rendevous Rye though

I don't mind Dickel, that's why I picked it up but their 15 year is still my favorite.

Today's pickups. The Dickel 8 year was good and I liked the price ($27) but that Baker's blew my mind! Easily my favorite Jim Beam product. Picked up a backup after sampling.

Really good mail week. I split a bottle of the single barrel with a friend. Hence why it’s half full.

How is it? Never had Blue Run.

Picked up TW SP of Sazerac Rye and Buffalo Trace this week. Haven't cracked the BT yet but the Sazerac is delicious (and my first introduction to it).

Blue Run is making some amazing stuff. That single barrel is so damn good

What's it run a per bottle and what tasting notes do you get from it?
