Thoughts on Larceny barrel proof?

fantastic. Have several - I'm a sucker for BPs - I think it fairs well against other BPs, and is typically an instabuy if/when I see it. CO is too hottt with the brown liquors though and fudge is tough to find.

Love it!
At $49.99 in Pa. it's a deal in my opinion.
Favorite so far was A122.

C922 just won Breaking Bourbon's whiskey of the year. I might have to give that one a shot. I haven't been a fan of previous releases, though.

Hmm...
Not even A122?
The C921 I liked right up until I tried A122, now I never touch it.

It's a state store, so no.
You can get bottles shipped to whatever FWGS store in PA is closest to you in NY and pick them up there.
No idea what release they're on now.

Well, Makers Mark is a wheated bourbon, so totally different mash bill than Buffalo Trace or Eagle Rare. Widow Jane is sourced bourbon either from only Kentucky (probably from Barton), or a blend of Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee whiskies (Barton, Midwest Grain Products, and Dickel respectively). Check the label where is says "distilled in..." Widow Jane does not actually make any whiskey themselves.

Furthermore, BT and ER are low-rye bourbons. So you'll want to look for other low-rye bourbons to really try to match the flavor profiles. My suggestions would be Michter's small batch (the black and white/off-white label, not the sour mash or rye), or Elijah Craig small batch (or the barrel proof if you want something a lot stronger), or Russel's Reserve (made by Wild Turkey).
Reporting back. Nice recs JJ :pint:

Her favorite was the Elijah Craig small batch. She really liked that one and ranks it close to Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare. She liked the Weller and said there's something a little different about it (I think she said it's lighter) and that she'll have to look into how it's made. She wasn't as impressed with the Widow Jane. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't purchase again at the price it goes for.

Found that Larceny bp and a bottle of eagle rare when I was visiting massachusetts at actual retail prices......had to talk up the guy a bit for the eagle rare as the shelf was empty. Almost walked out with a blanton's at $90 but he balked, only had one left in the back.

Not sure if anyone here is in CA, but these guys are doing a pretty killer deal right now. Buy $100 worth of Benchmark and get Elmer T Lee for $50.

I just stumbled on this thread, so apologies if this has been discussed previously but...

Has anyone ever considered trading prints for bourbon, and if so, is there a thread for it that I may have missed? Figured it was worth a shot considering there's clearly some whiskey fans in here.

I don’t think there’s a thread but I’d be interested.

I just offered bourbon (+cash) for something on here, and it was probably going to work out, but I had to back out due to some expenses.

I love a good barter.
