What's it run a per bottle and what tasting notes do you get from it?
Small batch was $250. Single barrel was $240 if I recall.

Small barrel notes are sweet oak and brown sugar on the nose. Oak/vanilla/caramel on the palette with some fruit notes as well. I'd put it up against Pappy 15 tbh.

Single barrel notes are butter and brown sugar on the nose. Oak/sugar/vanilla/caramel. It's super dessert like. It's dense and has a great viscosity.

Wow, didn't realize they were that pricey. Worth the cost I assume?

I'm sure Blue Run is good, but it's basically just 1792 12 year with an extra year or two on it, as it's almost certainly sourced from Barton. It's even the same proof as 1792. Jim Rutledge (of 4 Roses fame) picked the barrels, and he clearly knows what he's doing. So, like I said, I'm sure it's good. He also helped pick out the barrels for the Cream of Kentucky brand, also most likely from Barton. Other older Barton-sourced bourbons include Calumet 14 and 15, and maybe the Doc Swinson 15 year, although people think that last one might also be from Heaven Hill. If you want some Barton on the cheap, Costco's Kirkland Small Batch, BiB, and Single Barrel are also all Barton.

Also, Blue Run is not a wheated bourbon, so any comparison to PVW is kind of like comparing apples to oranges...or maybe red delicious apples to granny smith apples at least.

Thanks for the info jjbehren. Tried Calumet 15 for the first time yesterday and I wasn't overly impressed. Glad I didn't pay the price tag on it ($125) but I heard the 14 was a better batch.

I haven't tried any of them, but I know that Rutledge didn't have anything to do with Calumet, so I wouldn't necessarily hold that experience against the Blue notes. That being said, I've heard only average reviews about cream of Kentucky. And Rutledge has a lot to do with that brand.

Tonight's festivities. The maple is good, not great but that Knob Creek is amazing. Great balance of spice and mint. Rye's are hit-and-miss for me but this one found the mark (both are SP's BTW).

First time trying Taconic and it’s not bad. Getting some honey and hot fudge from it (this is definitely a dessert barrel). Finish had a little bit of pepper and spice to it but drinks lower than 124 proof.

Two for Tuesday: Daniel Craig 9 year, 94 proof Elijah Craig vs Daniel Craig 5 year, 110 proof Old Pepper. Tonight’s winner is the Old Pepper. Higher proof but drinks below it, with no heat on the back end. Smooth with a little bit of pepper.

Two for Thursday: Sean Connery 12 year, 94 proof Elijah Craig vs Sean Connery 123.7 proof Woodinville. Today’s winner is the Elijah Craig. Leather, smooth, hints of spice and heat but very mild. A nice taste all the way through.

Made this in February with W12 and W107. Let it marinate for 6 months and tried it the other day.

We just started getting it by me but these were all ordered online. The Cap was my favorite of the 3.
