The more I have of it the more I cannot really compare it to another bourbon, even another Heaven Hill Bourbon. It's distinctive and really moving into my #1 spot.
I'm sending vibes for you that the N.A.S. version suits you as well!
I've laid in a lifetime supply (about a dozen bottles) of the 12YO juice "just in case"

How do you feel about the Barrel Proof releases?

Oh I should add I have never had the age stated version. I just bought my first 750 bottle 2 weeks ago which was NAS and finished it Thursday evening. Was out of town for work Friday and swung by a liquor store inside of a Kroger and grabbed a 1.75. I didnt even realize it was actually 12 year age stated until I was back home that evening.

wow, that's an interesting Elijah Craig journey you've got going
if you find you do like the 12 year age-stated version more, I guess you'll be scrambling and stocking up, considering how much you like the N.A.S.

please do post your thoughts on that when you get into the 12YO and if you do end up trying one of the Barrel Proof releases too

I don't have a bottle of NAS E Craig on hand to compare to the 12 year, but honestly I think I liked the NAS I had a bit better than this 12 yr. The 12 year I am sipping on now has a really pronounced wood taste and a fairly strong astringency too it even at only 94 proof. The NAS had just the right amount of wood for me and I believe it was also a tad bit smoother.

I may have to try this again tomorrow. Had a very spicey pizza for dinner and I think its playing with my taste buds still.

Pa. people:

We're getting Orphan Barrel The Gifted Horse - I think today, and I believe it'll be less than $50.

Not sure I want to drop $50 on something that's getting mixed reviews.

It was available here for quite a while. I think the orphan barrel fad has passed here locally.

Any Mac 18 love here? I know its not PA limited or anything but its allocation rules are making it pretty scarce. It's my absolute favorite sherry cask whiskey
