1. encase the board in a block lucite...think clear rectangular slab with the board "floating' inside.
2. filling the etching with clear epoxy, and fiberglassing the entire board back into a "traditional" smooth skateboard.
As I see it, the plus side is creating a protective envelope around the original object while making it available to be handled and displayed safely.
The obvious downside being the unreversible nature of these modifications and the loss of the tactile nature of the laser etching.
...and yes, I know many of you will think me insane for even considering either option. I'm oK with that.
