Thanks man. I've been out of the art loop for a few months (Just bought an Apt, had to take it easy). Crazy how much J's work is going for now (even the newer stuff). Very happy for him.rubberneck wrote:Delighted to hear you managed to grab one. Karma for helping another Geddes fan, way back when...tpeazy wrote:I scored a Large. Gonna go simple with the frame job. Well said.....I never looked at it this way but now I like it even more!! (took me 7 years to postCragars wrote:I figured it had to do with a problem feeding on itself.
Never getting out of the PJ's and the state of mind you're in when you get into your "ahhh" clothes (not wanting to do anything). Not having motivation to do anything leads to an endless time of stagnation and not progressing, where you settle into the safety of a routine. It inevitably leads to thinking about the past to see how you got to your present situation. Thinking about the past and present situations leads to a vicious cycle where your lamenting about your problems leads to no solution for them. What results is an endless loop of thought and behavior. The different orientations of the man then seem like the endless ways you would interpret your past in a futile effort to see where you went wrong not knowing that focusing on the problem or your stagnation prolongs everything.
This theme of a loop could go into less depressing areaslike the tip of the tongue phenomena. When you can't recall a word or thought, the act of trying to retrieve it from memory actually blocks you from recalling it. The remedy is to occupy yourself with something else and eventually it will just pop into your head.
If not memory recall then creativity/epiphany. Frustration over a problem or expanding an idea inhibits your ability to find a novel way to approach the problem/idea. Again the solution is to do something else in order to clear the slate.
So, break out of the loop, move on and things will open up for you. Avoid the mire.

This arrived today via a very special person and this is a very beautiful piece. I have been staring at it for quite a will and like most of Geddes the more you look the more you see. I have seen alot of Geddes prints up close and this bunch of bad boys in a scrum is nothing short of amazingly breath taking.......
