Art world’s l’enfant terrible is making headline once again. Always a provocateur, Banksy unveiled his new sculpture, Cardinal Sin, at Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, England. A tile mosaic strategically placed on a replica bust of a cardinal, its a visual protest on the disturbing child abuse scandals that have swept through the Catholic Church in recent years, much like portrayal of criminals on the TV news. In a sardonic statement, Banksy added “I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one.”. Never the one to mince words, the artist stated during a brief interview with the BBC that “…the statue? I guess you could call it a Christmas present. At this time of year it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christianity – the lies, the corruption, the abuse.”

Is it even really all that clever?

If this got put out without anyone knowing it was Bansky no one would care.

The only adult in that video is a black guy hanging out with the whitest 12 year olds on the planet.

If he went to Home Depot or whatever they have in England and bought 25 tiles and spent all of $10 then well

I would have liked this more if the tiles weren't do flat and followed the form of the bust.

If you look at this from far away, like it's displayed on the home page, the position of the tiles actually makes sense.

Hey...screenprinting is harder than gluing...even if interns do it.
