Most people who buy MBW are into it for the wrong reasons i.e. quick buck, trendy, new to the game, money to burn.

Clearly you can find a piece with more thought, creativity, skill and intrinsic artistic value for a fraction of the price, and maybe if you're lucky your band will be on it and if you're really lucky you bought it first hand.

There are a ton of artists out there, do a gigposter.com artist search. Do some digging, find a treasure, support integrity not hacks.

The monkey obviously stands for humanity in its most base form. Now this simple human is perched upon, leveraging, mass produced goods as a platform of expression.
The shared color between the paint and the product is a straight forward comment on the equation of speech to money.
Mr.Monkey might think that his expression of the lofty idea of self determination is a genuine one, and it might be. He's unfortunately blind to the fact that he's just another consumer and is buying in to a system which limits personal freedom.
...or
The monkey represents the utter naivety of Mr. Brainwashs' continual petitioning for social acceptance of his banal career on his own behalf.
