The sense of despair and decay is really strong in this piece. This and 'There is Glory in Our Failure' are the more sombre of the Cosmonaut series imho. The landscape in both works is derelict and crumbling and the Cosmonauts posture is limp and lifeless (though his arms are raised upwards, it looks like he is just being dropped by the bird)

I'd be interesting in learning the physical location used in this one. It looks like a back alley somewhere in the Melbourne CBD.

I'll guess I'll have to do some scouting when I'm back at Christmas 8)

The colours employed here are really autumnal. Quite fitting, as we are now in a transitional period with Jems work, with the Cosmo’s sadly on the way out soon...

I'm not really digging the positioning of the cosmo/bird in this one which sucks since I really like the rest of the image. I'll definitely still be picking one up though...yay for smaller size!

Anyone got any release info on when/where this is dropping? Definitely one of my favorites of the series - love the colors and the details.

From Geddes' blog:

"We'll post further details here soon. But as always, if you'd like to receive an email with all the details a couple of days before the release (so you don't miss out) then please email us as jez@jeremygeddesart.com."

This is the flip side to The Street. While that piece had it's own sense of desolation and despair it was offset by the beauty of the pristine architecture and sterile environment. Here the decay and filth amplify that sense of dread.

To me he is the Jimi Hendrix of painting. There's magic in his fingers :).

I`m nobody, I never did an exposition and a gallery really, I never show any work anywhere and I`m doing this big show and it`s all a make up kinda way you know....

After further mulling over this print, my sense of it is that this is the same bird coming to the doomed astronaut 'adrift' in the cold vacuum of space and is now bringing him down to rest in this derelict decayed environment. Letting him breathe in 'warmer air' 8)

We can't see the condition of his visor in this new image however. My 2c anyway....
