Bowen says, "One of my favorite Paintings I did this year is now available as a Print: Doggie Diner. An official San Francisco landmark, the Doggie Diner’s iconic head is also one of my earliest memories. This is my homage to the Beacon at the end of a childhood car ride filled with anticipation on the way to the zoo. Once I saw it I knew we were there…"

The Diner itself is gone, but the heads remain and are a pretty cool, kitschy, rad-ass piece of SF history that pulled out every now and then: http://doggiediner.com. 111 Minna gallery in SF had a show almost a year ago (I think) celebrating the anniversary of Last Gasp publishing -- art was up from R. Crumb, Ron English I think, Aye Jay, and a thousand other pop- and counter-culture artists...they drug the heads down (why? because they're rad pop culture shizz) and I took a pic...

Always a unique clientele at the Doggie Diner after a late Fillmore or Avalon night.
