I think it's a cross-cultural phenomenon.
In this side of the pond, we like women to appear to look like women,
In England, they like to make men appear to look like women.
The two prints you mention have some fun lovin' boys on them, which is cool, but it's a different stroke than most people are used to. We can't all be Lou Reed.

I find the woman in Britannia feminine but I agree that the one in 'Cash' is somehow androgynous.
