The Lady of Guadalupe. IMHO, Chuck's image has a hint of Malleus influence... dark flowing hair on the Madonna, stars on deep background, etc.

If the 1st edition (i.e. show edition) is 100, then a run of 50 to 100 (or more) would traditionally constitute an Artist Edition (AE) rather than A/P's. The convention is that A/P's are a small run printed prior to the 1st edition, printed for the express purpose of the artist getting a chance to review the colors and perform overall quality control for the production run to follow. The number of A/P's for a given print is generally on the order of 10% of the total production run size.

I don't believe that a true artist edition exist for this poster, I think only a small amount of A/P's, maybe in that 10% range you spoke of, at least thats what i think I understood from emailing Chuck, but I've been wrong before. Thats why I stated that I think the A/P for this poster is a true rarity.

I agree. I don't recall seeing Artist Editions from any of the Firehouse guys, like ya see from time to time from Burwell, Emek and others... not that there's anything wrong with AE's (or with the approach of these other artists). In addition to creating a traditional number of A/P's, Chuck & Ron get great results from their creative variants, which they generally make available for very reasonable prices. I love their approach! Keep 'em coming guys!

on the subject of A/E's from the firehouse crew, there were A/E's for some of Dave Hunter's work-see Sly and the Family Stone and Weird Owl for example...few and far between but occasionally they happen, probably won't happen here.
I think most of these will be going to Rome with Chuck & Ron...but what do I know-cl

Many, many artists have been influenced by Malleus, but this poster also reminds me of those Mexican playing cards that look a little like tarot cards.
