ida "accidentally" bumped into him with a full extra large blue slushy and then as the tears welled up in his eyes, i'd say "my bad" and chucked him a deuceDeltaSigChi4 wrote:Well, first off they were not displayed. How the drymount is someone going to buy them if they are not displayed? Secondly, they were offered to one gentleman, who subsequently purchased them both. Forget the fact that I was the first one there, coming from the onsite camping entrance, unlike the McFlipper coming from the douchebag entrance [non-onsitecamp]. I'm referring to the foils of course. And the douchebaggery surrounding their sale. I posted initially about it here.*

Coachella has been charged the same price for their regular edition posters all three years that Emek has designed the posters. They did not consult the artist on pricing. They set the price where they wanted it to be, and they are the folks that made the money on the higher price.rssesq wrote:it is my understanding that in demand artists can set the price their posters are going to be sold for at these events. If Emek knew they were selling them for $140, he shoulda told them he wouldnt do the poster.norbyjake wrote:It's my understanding that these are being sold at Coachella (by the promoters) and not by Emek.rssesq wrote:say what you want about shep but at least Mr. Fairey didnt raise the price of his art some 400% in three years.
$250 ticket for 3 day concert w/McCartney, Cohen, The cure, etch etch etch
$140 for a poster of the event
I had a feeling this was on Goldenvoice (the promoter) ... again, seeing as they have discovered the wonderful world of variants, it made sense they were trying to squeeze more margins out of poster sales.norbyjake wrote: Coachella has been charged the same price for their regular edition posters all three years that Emek has designed the posters. Since trees are the main theme in the Coachella prints, perhaps EMEK can make this next year's design ...

I just received delivery of mine yesterday. As expected it looks amazing!
I thought the sky and tree branches would be the big eye catcher on this print but I was wrong. The color and detail in the garbage heap at the bottom of the art really pops out. Now to figure out a frame job.

The people who bought the foils WERE the merch guys.spunkmonkey wrote:I don't follow your reasoning. If they priced them at the price point they wanted and sold them, who cares if one person or two bought them?2 foils sold to the same person? Man these merch guys sound like idiots
