nah, just a consequence of the lighting to get the picture. It's a red dot, but it can be very hard to tell until you get real close. The background is much darker on the 1st edition

I really am enjoying my DSO2. I never thought I'd be able to afford one. Thank you Dan McCarthy for created a 2nd, and thanks to a great EB'er for an excellent deal!

Man, this thing is gorgeous (2E). It's so nice framed up and on the wall that I almost forget the somewhat high price I paid for one with a great fade.

Easily my favorite print of the few that I own. Dan's starry prints always remind me of how much I hate light pollution.

I can't wait to get my sub tube, hopefully, next week. The pics posted are fantastic...it's a very beautiful print. No problems with light pollution in Tucson. We have very strict city codes regarding that, there's an observatory about 20-25miles away (Kitt Peak). The night skies are a lovely sight here in Tucson. I was talking to a couple of travelers driving through Tucson recently, they spent a few days here. I asked what impressed them the most about Tucson, they said the "stars". Awesome. :D

I'm envious. I've only been to Arizona once (from CT), but I would agree with that. My brothers and I pulled to the side of the road at night somewhere between the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff, most stars I've ever seen.

I moved here years ago from Cincinnati (born and raised there). I had no idea what the night sky was supposed look like. The first time I saw the milky way band across the sky...I couldn't believe it. Billions and billions... (Carl Sagan). :D

used to live in Tucson, loved it there, would go back in a heartbeat if it wasnt landlocked. the night skies were something else there though, as well as the lightning storms. Lived in the foothills and would love to watch the lightning hit down in the city. been to kitt peak as well. pretty neat.

The lightning here is some scary stuff. I live in the city... I thought i read somewhere that Tucson was considered the "lightning capital" of the US. They do a lot of lightning research here.
