Bootleg or Fan Art? there is a big difference.thesavageguy wrote:Bootleg
what is the big difference? both are unauthorized, right? One person does it for financial gain and the other one does it for financial gain in the way of bong hits or something.electrachrome wrote:Bootleg or Fan Art? there is a big difference.thesavageguy wrote:Bootleg

well if thesavageguy was claiming that there were bootlegs of this floating around like on ebay and warning people about it, we would be on the lookout for a distinction about the difference between the "official" and "bootleg' version.username wrote:what is the big difference? both are unauthorized, right? since it has been identified as "Fan Art", we now know what to classify it as.
semanticly there is a big diffence in the two terms.
As to both ripping someone off....this one doesn't use the bands likness or propper name, so legally they are off the hook. Usually it's the suits at the label or promoters who get their panties in a twist over this crap...it think the bands dig it.

To my knowledge, bootlegs (or knock-offs) of this poster have yet to be seen. Can't say the same for MANY other DMB prints.
